Tagged!

Yep... I knew it was only a matter of time for me to get tagged by this bloggy chain letter thingy (thank you Ryan!) I've been having so much fun reading other people's lists, so here goes!

The Rules
1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

1. If you haven't noticed yet, I'm a cat person (duh!) Yes, I do have a special voice I use when talking to my cats, Stewie and Daisy... it's a higher pitch than my normal speaking voice, but they LOVE it ^^ No, I do not have little tea parties with my cats (well, not yet anyway).

2. I'm a HUGE movie buff and have a really wide range of taste in movies... I like any genre, as long as the movie is done well and has a great story. I can watch a chick flick one day like "Pride and Prejudice" and the next day watch "Aliens" and enjoy both movies immensely.

3. On the subject of movies... of all the scary movies I've watched, the scariest was "The Mothman Prophesies" I don't know if it's because it's supposed to be based on true events, or what... but it gave me the heebie-jeebies. I had to sleep with a little light on at night for weeks after I saw it and was totally scared to take the trash out at night.

4. My favorite book? "To Kill a Mockingbird" I also love the old black-and-white movie with Gregory Peck... it's magical.

5. I used to be a voracious reader when I was younger, but now I'm kinda lazy about it and discovered books on tape/CD (my first was "Silence of the Lambs" when I drove by myself to Las Vegas from LA). I guess I love having someone read a book to me, especially if they're really good and its a great story... some faves? "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck and "A Dangerous Fortune" by Ken Follett.

6. I have this habit of eating the exact same thing at certain meals for weeks at a time... then I get burned out and move onto another thing.

7. Okay, some of you may groan at this one, but I'm a reality show junkie (it's my guilty pleasure). I'm usually pretty choosy about the reality shows I watch... "Top Chef" and "Project Runway" are awesome... I love seeing the creative process and how their projects turn out at the end. But I AM guilty of watching some of the cheesy ones too lately, like "Rock of Love" where Bret Michaels has a house full of needy girls who want be his girlfriend, and "The Pick Up Artist" with that lame guy "Mystery" who tries to teach geeks how to pick up women. I dunno... it just entertains me.

8. I collect vintage pottery from the 40s and 50s... mostly vases in blue and green tones, or figurine-type kitchy planters. I also have quite a few figurines which were made in Occupied Japan, my favorites being cowgirls (which are very hard to find!) I'm running out of room, so I've started collecting smaller and smaller things... so now I'm collecting vintage marbles.

Oh man, now I have to tag other people. I think most of the people I know have been tagged already, and I'm not sure if anyone reads my blog any more. Hmmm... I'll try tagging Haver Cole, Saeya Nyanda, Menno Ophelia, Vas Legend, Disembodied Hand, Zabitan Assia, Dragontat Zagato, and of course, Donovan Brennen <3

Kitten Down!

Well, I've been so bad at posting to my blog, I'm not sure if anyone even checks it anymore... sorry! Anyhow, just to let you guys know, I'm taking a forced break from SL. My computer broke last week and it's been sent to Apple to be repaired :-( Right now I'm at a lame computer at Kinko's with an internet connection that's slow as molasses, so I'm just trying to get on SL to take care of a couple of committments...it's taking 20min for the program just to download! Ugh!

Anyow, I'm hoping to be back up and running by the end of next week or at least by Halloween, so hopefully there aren't too many problems with vendors and customer service and such during the next week. Don't have too much fun without me!

From Paper to Pixel...

Hey kittens!

Just thought I'd share some of my doodles with you... the germs of ideas that become the items I sell in SL. You'll see below some of the doodles I did on three blue post-it notes at work (you never know when an idea will hit you!) I'm not as good at sketching as Donovan and other designers in SL, but you get the idea ;-)

As you all can see by my new airship shopping area, {PLUNDER}, I've been fascinated with Steampunk themes... the colors and textures are so rich, and mixing in worn in metal and machinery is so interesting and fun. Sooo... I made a top hat, boots and an elegant long coat... Steampunk style!

The top hat is made of grungy metal, with rivets that line the top. Three collected steam gauges adorn the front of the hat. Looks great with the glasses that Dis sells in his store, doesn't it???

The boots are grungy metal as well, with the rivets again along the top and fastening the boot straps. There's a grate with a moving fire in the front of the boot (keeps yer toes warm!) and a steam pipe along the side, with real steam poofs coming out the end (thanks for your help with the steam Dis!)

Finally, the long coat that comes in 4 different colors. It comes with a long prim flexi coat bottom, prim collar and cuffs. The coat also looks great without the prim bottom!

Well, on to the next project...

{PLUNDER} Pirate Costume Party Sunday!

Ahoy!

Yep! There's gonna be a party this Sunday, June 10th, 12noon til 2pm (SL time), and it's gonna be fun!!!

I really wanted to send out more of the one-on-one invites, but SL isn't cooperating. The people search isn't working...so hopefully someone reads my blog...lol.

The location is {PLUNDER} and it's a costume party, so come in your best sexy pirate gear. We're having a costume contest with a $1000L prize for the best guy costume and $1000L prize for the best girl costume. (Hopefully I'll have some freebies to give away, if SL is cooperative.) We'll also have DJ Donovan Bennen at the helm... and we all know that's a good time right there!

So come and party like a pirate!

Arrrgggghhhh!

Be prepared!

Yup, I made a pair of boots...this time the theme for them is the boy scout motto "be prepared." The catch is that these are not for your typical boy scout who would gladly walk an old lady across the street to earn his merit badge. These boots are for the boy scout of the "bad" variety with several items strapped to his (or her) boots to make him fully prepared for any type of debauchery and mayhem he (or she) may encounter... or instigate!

You'll find...

An almost full bottle of whiskey
A pack of smokes
A map
A compass
A knife
Some rope
A boy scout medal

I guess you have everything you need to party (whiskey and smokes), lure someone of the opposite sex (or same sex) with something impressively shiny (the medal), and the means find your drunk ass way home (map and compass). Oh...the rope and knife? Gosh, I dunno, read the Boy Scout Manual to find out :-)

As you may have guessed, these were fun as hell to make (with a little extra help and a small-prim-making lesson from Dis). Hope you all have fun wearin' em!

A pixel dream come true!

I was so excited to create my [CIVVIES] store that's held aloft by a gigantic blimp, but it was on a small plot of land with prims I was gobbling up quickly with each new release. Then, after Donovan really introduced me to anime and I saw films like "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" with all the amazing airships and flying contraptions, I decided that a whole shopping area in the air consisting of group of mis-matched airships tethered together somehow, would be a fun and unique experience in SL.

I invited several very good friends (all superb designers), and a couple of designers I didn't know so well (but thought their product would fit in well with the theme) to join my crew. So...I started my pet project with gusto! Some designers opted to make their own flying vessels, others let me build airships for them. I really wanted the airships to reflect the designers themselves. I purchased DT's ship, and...well let's say...is the neatest and cleanest docked at {Plunder} :-) I know how much Zab likes Japanese action figures, so Donovan found a simple robot I could build myself, sooo you'll see Giant Robo holding up Zab's store, flaming jet pack and all! Zab took his theme a bit further...there's a giant Godzilla in his store causing mayhem and distruction on a miniature city with sound effects and everything! (If you haven't seen it, you MUST go!) He somehow fit a bit of product in there too :P

Keishi's airship is as goth-y as I could make it, with a giant evil kitty balloon holding it afloat. The rest are an assortment of metal and canvas airships with lots of propellers, balloons and floaty things...all in various stages of rust and grunginess (just the way we like it!)

Dis built an amazing pirate ship (in record time...an hour and a half I think?) and stocked it full of steampunk goodies. If you're lucky, you'll find Dis on his ship, harassing the customers with things like "Wipe yer feet before boarding, Lass!" (LOL...Dis kills me!) Tyreak also made an awesome airship, resplendent in his gritty junkyard style.

Here's a list of {PLUNDER}'s crew:
Donovan - GearShift
DT - Desert Moon
Zab - FORM
Dis - SteamPowered Ind.
Tyreak - The Syndicate
Keishii - Goth1c0
Saeya - Kyoot
Penny - Happy Bivouac
Me - [CIVVIES]

I also built a bar called "Posy's Cloudbuster Cantina" and a cozy lounge where you can kick your feet up and hang out. Make sure you take a peek at the Captain's Log in the lounge, a promotion piece I put together for {PLUNDER}. You'll also see some fun portraits I did of all the designers there.

I hope people have as much fun at {PLUNDER} as I did in making it. Come on by and have a look, if you haven't already. And don't be surprised if someone yells at you to "wipe yer feet!" Check my pics for the tp location. :D

Almost New Releases!

Oh man, I've really been neglecting my blog *sigh*

Well...here are a few releases I made last weekend. First, I made some Miau Haus zipped track jackets. One set has kitty moods (for those kitties who want to express themselves) with "Meow," "Purr," and "Hiss." The other set has some cool asian graphics on the backs, with the corresponding asian character on the front breast: "Way of the Warrior," "Neko," and "Dragon."

Next, I altered Civvie's "Road Agent" coat, adding a skull on the back, bullets on the sleeve and crossed guns on the breast. I also replaced the buttons with iron crosses. It was going to be my limited item for the last Block Party, but Donovan said "nooooo!" He said it should be an ongoing item in my store... and he's right! It's doing really well :D (And thank you to Donovan for being my model in the ad...HAWT!) Anyhow, I did some "Dangerous Specimens" belts for the Block Party, which people seemed to enjoy.

I have a huge project I've been working on and will be annoucing tomorrow though :D

Fight! Fight!

Hey, does anyone else sense a little violent streak in my latests releases??? Well, I think it's because SL has been such a bitch for me to play lately. First I couldn't apply textures to prims, which really sucks when you're trying to build. Then, over the weekend I would log on and none of my attachments where on my avie... and I couldn't reattach them! Plus I couldn't tp anywhere! So I was stuck at home, bald and shoeless for a couple of days. Not to mention the crashing... I'm sure everyone on my friends list was tired of seeing "Posy Trudeau is online" and "Posy Trudeau is offline" constantly popping up in those little blue boxes. Anyhow, as you can see, I channeled all my violent frustrations into some new products for [CIVVIES]!

First, I made the rest of the skin tones for the Girl Fight skins I made a long time ago and never released. I was very careful to market them as skins for a girl who WANTS to fight and kick ass... I don't want it to be viewed as a battered or abused woman or anything, because that would suck. Anyhow, I love my feisty little girl fighter!

Next, I made some makeshift-looking wraps/pads for your elbows, knees and knuckles with flexi strips. There's a clean (well, kinda clean) and a bloody version for guys and girls. I used Zab's Beat Down skin for my guy model avie (thanks Zab!)... his skin for the guys will be released soon!

Finally, I made a longsleeve tee with a cool bloody fist graphic and some dirty jeans with worn holes in them. Nice and dirty... just the way the boys like 'em :-)

Well that's it... Miau for now!

"Road Agent" Coat @ [CIVVIES]

Well, I had a long list of things I wanted to make for Miau Haus and [CIVVIES]... but I had this random inspiration this weekend to make a long leather coat.. go figure! Anyhow, I originally wanted to make a coat with an exaggerated bunched up collar, because I loved this animation that Donovan did and showed me months ago, which had a character who wore this scarf that covered the lower half of his face; I just thought it looked cool :D The first prototype of the coat was built well, but needed texture tweaks and a different collar... sooo after a few suggstions by Dis and Donovan... the Road Agent coat was born! I'm super happy with how it turned out, and I've gotten great responses from my designer friends who's opinions I highly respect... so yay! It's a good day in SL :D

At first I was gonna name it "Drifter" because I pictured this nomad-like lone wolf wandering from town to town...his coat being his main shelter from the elements. Then I explored more names...mainly using a Thesaurus and saw "Road Agent." Way more cool! A Road Agent is a bandit (yes, I had to look it up...lol), so I thought the collar concealing half of the face was perfect for a bad-ass bandit.

I'll prolly do a "Drifter" coat down the road... maybe make it more wooly and fabric-like, rather than leather with a different collar. But first I need to do a Miau Haus project... some fun sneakers... or jackets?

Boxed In!

I logged in to SL this morning to take care of some things... then I noticed a little "gift" left outside our home by someone named Throwaway Amat. I gotta admit, it made me smile because it was so... so... so... excessive! In total, there were 142 giant wooden box prims piled around our property. It kinda made me laugh, and it was actually kinda artistic (in a random way) but I reported the delinquent anyhow... lol.

That's my "show-and-tell" for today :D

Stripes & More...

I released some new tees this weekend for [CIVVIES]... they're dirty and faded with some cool distressed graphics. So far I've gotten some great feedback about them... yay! Donovan and I have also been seeing lots of people wearing my workboots... double-yay!

Anyhow, for a long time I've been wanting to remodel Miau Haus a bit... my guest vendors like Hybrid, Fa Nyak, Krysis and Thorn have their products mixed up with mine in the main area, so I decided to give them their own room. (Hopefully this will help the confusion about me making ears and tails and such. I'm always getting IMs about them, and I have to forward them to Fa or Philo.)

Sooo... along the right wall first you'll see the entrance to "The Alley" which houses Gritty Kitty and GearShift, next will be an entrance to my Skin Shop (Body Shop? I dunno, any better suggestions for a name???), then the entrance to the Guest Vendor area, which I think I'll call the Designer Warehouse, mostly because it ended up looking like a warehouse when I was done with the build :P Tonight I'll start the texturing/build for the skin shop...then the whole upstairs area above the main room will be empty for new products (which I still have to make). Well, that's the plan!

Second Life Relay for Life

In case you haven't heard, The Block has formed a team for the Second Life Relay for Life; we're called "The Block Party!" It's a chairity event to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

This subject really hits home for me because both my best friend and my mother were diagnosed with breast cancer in the past year. My best friend had a double-mastectomy, and went through chemotherapy and ratiation therapy... I was truly amazed at her spirit and positive outlook during the ordeal. She's in remission now and is doing great!!!

My mother had a lumpectomy along with radiation therapy and is doing great too! Yay! Thanks to medical advances and technology out there, these 2 very important women in my life continue to be in my life, and enrich it every day.

Well... I was inspired to make some wristcuffs to help raise money for the cause; 100% of the proceeds will go the SLRFL. I wanted to include sayings on the cuffs that might be meaningful to the wearer.

"Relay for Life" To wear in support of this impactful chairity event.
"Fight for Life" To wear in support of the fight against cancer.
" In Memory of Life" To wear in memory of a loved one lost to cancer.
"Celebrate Survivors" To wear in celebration of loved ones who have survived cancer.

I will be wearing the "Celebrate Survivors" cuffs for my mom and friend :-)

Check them out and please support this very worthy cause in any way you can.

Made for Walkin'!

I made boooots! They're dirty... they're scuffed... they're patched... but the best part is they're broken-in and oh-so-comfy!

Definitely a challenging project, but I'm super happy with how they turned out!

Warm & Wooly Leather Hats @ [CIVVIES]

I finally finished a hat I've been wanting to make for awhile :D It's fashioned after really cool comic image of Tank Girl that I ran across... kind of vintage military... kind of Elmer Fudd... I dunno, I just really liked it. The really cool thing is that it kinda forced me into making hair! As much as I love to buy hair... I've been kinda scared to make it O.o it' just looks really hard and complicated.

Well, I finished the hat the other night, but couldn't get any of the hair I already own to work well with it (without making the hat enormous to accommodate the hat, or hairs sticking out here and there). Sooo, I made the plunge into making hair for the hat. As you can see, it's pretty simple, but it works!!! I can't imagine making a whole head of hair though... besides, what would i get to shop for if I made my own hair???

Hope y'all like it :D

New Releases @ Civvies!

Found some old vintage gauges and meters that I thought would make some nice belt buckles... an Amp Meter and a Soviet Anemometer (whatever the heck that is!) The leather's worn and dirty and the extra flap has a little flex. Simple, but functional :D

I also scavenged some old granny quilts and stitched together a sexy little number for the girls. The outfit is colorful and fun, with a nice homespun quality. I added my red scarf and ran around in mine all day yesterday... Wheee!

Multitasking in SL

I don't know if any of you have had this problem... well, most of you who read my blog are content creators with lots on your plates, so I'm sure you have... but I've been trying to multitask like crazy lately, and I feel like I'm spreading myself too thin at times.

Take last night for example... I was on Skype with Donovan... starting an IM to this guy who's making our wedding bands (he hasn't delivered them, and has been. until now ignoring mine and Donovan's IMs to him)... and doing Noam a favor by testing the scripting on the sweat wristband he just made. Well, the wedding band vendor, who we'll now call the "Sheister" has decided to come out of hiding and finally discuss the wedding bands with me... I'm testing Noams wristband at the same time, and trying to tell Donovan what the Sheister is telling me. One part of my brain is going "duuude! what a cool wristband Noam made!"... the other part of my brain is going "holy shit! I can't believe what this fucking Sheister ring guy is telling me!" I'm starting to cry because this idiot is making me sooooo angry I'm beginning to tear up, and thank goodness Donovan is on Skype trying to calm me down and make me feel better. Well, I finally finished IMing with the dick-head, and when I sent Noam the IM that the sweat band was working... he was... was... offline :-( I felt so bad... I would have MUCH RATHER been chatting with Noam than this idiot... and Noam asks me so few favors... I'm sure Noam will understand, but I still feel bad *sigh*

On the other hand... during the last Block Party... Donovan was DJing, and I was trying to chat with him a bit in IM (we can't Skype while he's DJing). Well... dang it! he wasn't answering me for long time, and I was getting all sensitive and upset at him, and... and... well, we'll just leave it at that. I KNEW that he was probably bombarded with IMs for requests, and taking the time it takes to get them ready and play them, and chatting with the crowd. I definitely should have been way more understanding with Donovan, knowing that he was juggling so many things.

I dunno... I was just thinking a lot about this, so I wanted to get it all out... right here... on my blog :-) I guess I really need to work on how to handle everything that's on my growing plate AND to be more understanding of other people's plates.

Okay, I'm feeling a little "verklempt" now *presses her hand against her chest*... "Multitasking"... discuss amongst yourselves...

New Store: [CIVVIES]!

In case you already didn't know... I opened a new store!!! I really wanted to try something different from the clean style of Miau Haus. (Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE my Miau Haus!) It's just so hard as a designer to be continually inspired and challenged... it's so easy to feel like you're in a rut, and my new project was just what the doctor ordered :D I've always loved movies like Blade Runner, Mad Max and Tank Girl, and I love how resourceful people would have to be in a post-apocalyptic setting... that's the spark that got my little kitty brain going. PLUS! I got to have the challenge of making everything dirty, worn out and grungy, sooo, with Donovan over my shoulder encouraging me to make things dirtier... dirtier... EVEN DIRTIER! I was on my way! Wheee!

Below is from my forum post, describing the store concept. After posting it, I realized how serious it sounds... almost like a book report for school (Gosh! I hope I get an "A"!)

"Wandering the skies of Second Life, [CIVVIES], a wearables establishment held aloft by the airship "Dystopia," supplies the citizens of a post-apocalypitic world with clothing and accessories. CIVVIES is currently docked in Redear and is open for business!

Items in the store appear to have been scavenged or reassembled from various found materials. Clothing has been previously worn... every rip, hole and stain tells a story. Colorful message-bearing graphics have been added to well-worn tees, where hard work is emphasized to promote the rebuilding of a new society, although beauty and the human capacity to enjoy life is equally emphasized. Although the store is called, Civvies, residual military influences appear, along with propaganda imagery and a distinct vintage flavor reminiscent of the eras of previous World Wars. Also notable are the multi-cultural influences that accurately reflect the melting pot society.

Civvies will remain in Redear as long as the business lasts... then it's off to another location where more customers and more adventures await!"

Anyhow, I hope everyone likes it as much as I liked building it and making shtuff for it. And a HUGE thanks to Miss Arbel for the blog! *hugggs!*

Calling all good music streams!

Okay... the music stream for Miau Haus that I really liked isn't working any more, and we don't have a good one for the house... unless Donovan is being my personal DJ for the evening :-)

Does anyone have any good music streams for SL? Maybe something dancy and fun for the store? Somethin' mellow, but not like retirement-home-mellow or elevator music? (And nothing head-bangin' that will make you want to "throw up the horns" and throw your head forward and back in a frenzy.) You've all probably been to Miau Haus... what would you suggest???

For the house... anything you all might have that you think Donovan and I would enjoy listening to.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Hoops & YoYo

Hey Gang!

If you read the comments in my previous blog, you'll see that Trinitee sent me an e-card for my birthday... I was sooo giggling in my seat while I was watching here at work! It was so darn cute I had to share it with you (actually you can see the actual card if you check out Trin's comment). Well, they have their own little site as well on Hallmark's website. I guarantee it will make you smile if you check it out :D

By the way, thank you for EVERYONE who helped make my birthday so special! I feel so loved :-)

P.S. I'll do a little blog on the 50s-themed party Donovan threw for me... I keep forgetting to download the pics so I can include them in the blog (duh!)

I got Netflix! Calling all favorite movies!!!

Yaaahooo! I got Netflix again!

A year or so ago, I decided to cancel my Netflix subscription to save money or something dumb like that o.0 Well, I just subscribed again this week and watched Princess Mononoke last nite with Donovan (he has the movie on DVD in the UK, so we synched up as best we could and watched at the same time... it worked great!) I absolutely loved the movie... I haven't watched much anime in the past, just admired the artwork... but I've had a taste and I want more!!!

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a HUGE movie buff, and I love all kinds of movies. (In fact, I have a gigantic DVD collection that's unfortunately in storage at the moment.) The range of movie genres I watch is pretty wide, so I'll watch pretty much anything, as long as it's done well... sci-fi/fantasy... drama... girly chick movies... action... foreign films... documentaries... etc. Sooo, if anyone out there has movie suggestions for me, please let me know. Netflix has a pretty extensive selection, so there's a good chance they'll have it. I'd especially love any of the more obscure movies y'all like... the stuff you won't find in Blockbuster :P

Thanks in advance for your suggestions :-)

Dimples! New skins at Miau Haus!!!

Okay, I was totally distracted from all my other projects this weekend, and decided to make a new line of skins... a tedious endeavor... and one that I didn't think I would want to try again so soon. Buuut... I went to the movies during the weekend and saw "Casino Royale," and like most of my friends (noteably Noam), melted at the sight of Daniel Craig and his icy blue eyes and yes... those killer dimples. Goes to show ya, you never know where your next good idea will come from!

I don't think I've seen skin with dimples in SL, so hopefully this skin line is somewhat original (I haven't shopped for skins in a long time, since I've been making them). Anyhow, here they are in all their cuteness-filled glory! Now someone needs to come up with a cheek-pinching animation!
